Foster Care and Adoption Counseling
Being a child in foster care or recently adopted can present with unique challenges that benefit from specific interventions. Being a caregiver trying to best support those unique challenges can present with unique challenges that often benefit from psychoeducation on attachment and trauma.
To be a competent foster care and adoption counselor, it requires specific training and advanced competency of attachment, trauma, grief, and anxiety. For young children, specific training in play therapy is also beneficial.
Nesting Connections offers supportive and knowledgeable therapeutic services for those currently going through the adoption process, have previously been adopted, or are presently in foster care. Rachel has met the criteria to be identified as a MN Adopt HELP Program therapist.
